Percentages

Ok, i just read that an Ipsos-Reid poll says that 56% of Canadians think the early on-set of summer heat this year is caused by global warming. That's right, folks. An overwhelming 56% of common ordinary folk deeply believe that our hot summer is caused by global warming.

Then again, consider that these are the same type of well-informed, educated idiots who are tuning in to Two and a Half Men every week so you know...there's that.

My question doesn't oppose that hotter summers are due to global warming. To me, that's kind of a given. Kinda like guessing that mutating cancerous growth on my back just might be due to dangerous exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun.

No, my question is why in the hell are we polling the general population about whether or not they think hot weather is due to global warming?

I really don't give a shit whether some pinhead scarfing his face with fried chicken and answering polling questions over the phone in-between screaming answers at the Wheel of Fortune guests on his TV has an opinion about environmental affairs. Besides, to be honest with you, I don't trust the knowledge of anyone who actually speaks to telemarketers beyond "ya, not interested".

Why is Ipsos-Reid wasting their time on asking people this question? Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Kind of like polling people about whether they think it's going to rain tomorrow. "Wow honey, 47% of people think it's going to be partly cloudy developing into showers later in the day...". Fascinating. Screw the commoner. Gimme an expert.

Well, I took my own little poll and do ya know what I found? 98% of those 56% who answered the Ipsos-Reid poll were 100% full of shit and the remaining 2% were clinically retarded. As for Ipsos-Reid poll about what people think of our hot summer....100% of me says it was pretty much a 100% waste of time.
